Ahmad from Syria

I am Ahmad and I am 25 years old. 

I was born and raised in Syria, a country ravaged by prolonged and devastating civil conflicts. My family and I survived difficult moments, faced with violence and losses. As I grew up, I realized that life in Syria was no longer safe, and the future looked black. 

In my twenties, I decided that it was time for a change. I left my family, my friends, and everything dear to me, in search of safety and a better future. I embarked on a journey towards Europe. 

My journey was extremely challenging and full of dangers. I traveled overland, passing through different countries, trekking across deserts, crossing mountains, and navigating rivers. Every step was accompanied by fear and uncertainty. 

Along the way, I met many other migrants, with whom I shared stories and hopes. We helped each other, sharing food, water, and support. We were like one family, encouraging and hoping for a better tomorrow. 

After a long journey, I arrived in Bosnia and Herzegovina. There, I joined a community of migrants who shared the same dreams and goals. In refugee camps and centers, we stayed together, sharing cramped spaces, resources, and daily challenges. 

Life in the refugee camps was tough. We faced limited resources, uncomfortable accommodations, and poor sanitary conditions. Nevertheless, we held together, supporting each other through difficult times. 

I managed to participate in activities organized by humanitarian organizations. Their activities provided us with opportunities to acquire new skills and support for integration. 

My desire to reach Germany was strong. Germany represented safety, educational opportunities, and better job prospects. I dreamed of a fresh start, of building a stable future for myself and my family. 

I am still in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but I never lose hope. I continue my journey, facing challenges and hardships. But in my heart, I carry the strength and determination to fulfill my dreams and provide a better future for those I love.
